When eating at Victor's...

So my thing is if you are gonna do something, do it right. If there is one staple breakfast place we have that ALWAYS gets it right in the tantalizing your taste buds department, it is Victor's 1959 Cafe. I've only known about this place for a little over a year but thanks to my lovely boyfriend, I am now an eternal fan.

We have tried most of the breakfast menu from Mango Waffles to Corn Pancakes and everything has been savory and fresh. Now that we have damn near perfected our Victor's visit, I would say that there are a couple things that are musts for us every time.

1)GUANABANA Juice
don't ask us what a guanabana looks like because we have no idea. The juice is amazing

2)Cuban Toast
regular toast should always be substituted for this soft, mouth watering choice. Don't forget the guava jam. you will cry.

3)TOSTONES
much more flavor than plantains and really yummy garlic topping is a plus. This is a fairly new discovery well worth the effort.

Try the Dia y Noche and the Arroz a la Cubana. Both are slap your mama good...

Lindstrom Bakery

We were on our way to taylors falls and came upon this small bakery in the town of lindstrom, never able to pass up a good donut we stopped and entered the small shop filled with baked goods.

Our attention was on the donuts of course, and we walked out with some old fashioned goodness. One plain and one cinnamon sugar. They were deep fried and had a slight peanutty taste, a decent donut for the road.

Original Pancake House

The first time i heard the name of this place, i thought it was another IHOP style microwave breakfast spot. But after some prodding, i made the trip to edina, and entered a wonderful world of breakfast.

"It is our constant objective to serve you the finest pancakes available" - Excerpt from the OPH Website, man, anytime the word objective is used to describe breakfast you know they are serious.

49er Pancakes

We tried a few pancakes: 49ers, Chocolate Chip, and the Strawberry Crepes (If you want to try a few you can order them individually to find your perfect match). A side of Sausage Patties, bowl of Fresh Fruit and a glass of fresh squeezed Orange Juice, yes fresh squeezed, a few hours before rounded out the meal.

Chocolate Chip

The 49ers stole the show, each order has three total, so light and thin(so fresh, so clean), only needed a quarter of the butter provided, and a little syrup and they were gone. The other cakes were good, the patties delicious. Cream and powdered sugar are served with the fresh fruit.

Overall a great way to begin a lazy sunday.

Texas Toast Fiasco

last night my parents were kind enough to treat me to dinner at The Best Steakhouse. sounds innocent enough. i was really excited for the steak but somehow when i saw the big pieces of Texas Toast that accompanied the steak, the show was stolen.

i was happily feasting on my toast when something unexpected happened. i somehow managed to turn the end pieces of my toast into a unintentional slingshot and shot a small crumb of toast into my eye while telling my parents, very animatedly, the story of how i had almost been ran off the road earlier that same day. it was quite the scene as my dad looked for the thing that i thought was scrapping out my eyeball. to top things off, the amount of mascara i was wearing acted as mesh fence for the toast crater to stay trapped against my eyeball.
somehow, minutes later (seemed like hours) it worked its way out and i was able to see again but...

two close calls in one day

P.S.  quick shout out to Jordan for helping us with our blog name. a true TCD...
